Today I am a happy woman. It’s 70 degrees outside and Change Is In the Air! I can feel it. And, although change is sometimes scary, it’s one of the greatest signs of health and life. The only things that don’t change are things that are dead, have no life in them. Join me today in embracing change. Look for opportunities to grow and expand your territory. Ask God for creative inspiration. Don’t allow your life and your ministry to grow stagnant . . . .

There are some exciting things going on within our district. The Fall Minister’s Retreat is coming up on October 4 – 6 in San Antonio. If you haven’t already registered, but sure to do so at www.northtexas.cc. It’s a great opportunity to get away, be refreshed, receive ministry and connect with other pastors/wives.

Trinity Church of Cedar Hill is hosting a live recording. Join them on Sunday evening September 12th for this exciting evening of worship and ministry beginning at 6:00. TO THE ONE . . .

Also (in our area) Aubrey McGowan and the worship team of Hope Fellowship in Frisco would like to send you a link with their new live album (tracks and charts). Contact aubrey@hopefellowship.net for more information. Hope Fellowship is also hosting a Worship Night on September 10th with Jennie Riddle (writer of “Revelation Song”) and New Nation Music. The night is free and open to the public and will begin at 7:00.

Be sure to capitalize on these opportunities to grow and facilitate change in your life and ministry! Have a blessed September,

Sherri

Well, it is summer in Texas, so the weather is definitely HOT! However, I’d like to know what’s hot on the worship scene in our North Texas churches. If you have a couple of favorite worship tunes right now that really minister to your team and congregation share them with us, the name of the song and the artist.

As for me, a lot of people ask how I go about song selection. Easy, a lot of listening. online searches, youtube, what other churches are doing, what’s being played on the radio, songs that are melodically simple, have a good hook and are lyrically sound. Songs that fit our team well (stylistically and vocally) and songs that are anointed for the culture of our congregation.

Some of the artists–CFNI, Gateway, Hillsongs United, Chris Tomlin, Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Adam Cunningham, Aaron Shust, Jeff Deyo, Todd Agnew, David Crowder, Planetshakers, Parchute Band, Ricardo Sanchez, New Life Church, Desperation Band, Israel Houghton, Martha Munizzi, Newsboys, Robbie Seay Band.

Charts? Easy. Most songs you can find on youtube for your band to listen to for free, and most songs you can find a basic starter chord chart online for, as well. Need help with charting, transposing, etc? Email me at sherri@tcoc.tv and I’ll be glad to help you! In the mean time, stay cool and have a blessed rest of the summer.

Well, District Council is over and summer is officially here, which is evidenced by the temperatures lately. It was great to see many of you at District Council. I was blessed by the ministry of Jeff Leake, Doug Clay and our Superintendent Rick DuBose in the evening services. I would also like to express my appreciation to Aubrey McGowan and Brenda Thompson-Haney for teaching the breakout sessions on Tuesday morning and doing a fantastic job. Thank you to the teams that lead worship from Trinity Church in Cedar Hill and Life Church in Midlothean. Last, but certainly not least, special thanks to my team from TCOC for your faithfulness and flexibility, to many of our pastoral staff that served as a production team for this year’s council, to Sesalle & her fabulous husband Clark for their media magic, to Rhonda and Glen and everyone at the District Office and to John Cookman and his crew at SAGU in the booth.

I thought the breakout sessions were a nice addition to this year’s council, bringing some practical helps to various areas of ministry. I hope all of you that were able to come received something that was and will be of assistance to you in your worship experiences. I was worried that some of you got lost on your way to the restaurant after the final breakout session. If so, my apologies. Next year I will know to have a map for you!

Blessings to you, your families, your worship teams and your church families.

Be sure to take a few moments to register for this year’s District Council. I was recently at a Staff Meeting at the District Office and learned that nearly all of the hotels are already full in Waxahachie. However, there is a brand new LaQuinta that still has availability. It is nice. It just so happens that my husband and I stayed there during Fine Arts a couple of weeks ago.

Let me encourage you, as a music minister/worship leader to try to come to council this year. I know that many of you are the ones that are expected to “hold down the fort” at home. If you can, however, you should try to come to the Tuesday morning breakout sessions this year. Aubrey McGowan of Hope Fellowship in Frisco and Brenda Thompson-Haney of Trinity Church in Cedar Hill will be our special guests for two music-related breakout sessions on Tuesday, June 8th with the first session being at 9:30 and the second at 10:45. After that, we (worship leaders, musicians, etc.) will be having lunch together at The Chisholm Grill on the square where we have the upstairs area reserved.

Call me at TCOC (940-321-0488) if you have questions or need more information.

Check out the concert information below. Robert Prince of Northpointe Church in Plano is hosting this concert as a Fundraiser for their National Fine Arts Contestants. This artist is available for bookings while here in the Metroplex. Contact Robert Prince at robert@freedomtreeministries.com for more information.

Well, apparently it has been a long time since I’ve posted anything new on this blog!!! Better late than never, I guess. My life has always been busy, but in recent months it seems to have spun out of control! To make a long story short, my son Jefferson competed in IMTA (International Modeling and Talent Association) in NYC in July of 2009. As a result, he was scouted out by a management and production team that was putting together a new Teen Pop Band. Since then, we have been making regular trips (almost monthly) to NYC for recording, photo shoots, promo, rehearsals, shows, etc. Please pray for us as we continue down this path to see what God has in store for our son. We are trusting the Lord to show us the way. If you want to check them out go to www.myspace.com/spoildrottenmusic. Their website should be up soon at www.spoildrottenonline.com and you can also watch some fun video clips at www.youtube.com/spoildrottenband.

Hope to see all of you at District Council this year. Don’t forget to register online at www.northtexas.org and be sure to register for the music/worship breakout sessions and luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, June 8th.

Welll, I trust all of you had a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year! I’m excited about 2010 and what it holds. We, at TCOC, are celebrating 10 years of ministry. The number 10 represents completion. And, with that in mind, I want this year to be a year of completion in my life and ministry: not that I will be finished, but that HIS divine purpose and plan will come to fruition in my ministry, my home, my church. LESS striving and MORE completion!

There are a couple of exciting worship conferences coming up this spring that I wanted to make you aware of. First, February 17 – 19, the national music department of the Assemblies of God is hosting the 2010 Music & Worship Conference at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. For more information, go to www.music.ag.org

Another very exciting worship conference opportunity is happening right here in Texas. Worship Leader Rich Hamm and his team at First Assembly of God in San Antonio are hosting a worship conference called CREATE on Saturday, March 16th. This conference will feature Lincoln Brewster! Kari Jobe! & Ricardo Sanchez! There will be tracks for worship leaders, bands, vocalists and techs. And, Lincoln’s band and Lincoln and Kari themselves will be teaching workshops. You don’t want to miss this one! For more information and/or to register, go to www.createworshipconference.com

Last, but not least, be watching your NTDNews for more information about this year’s All Church Ministries Conference. Some of this year’s worship-related tracks will include: Prophetic Worship; Vocals, It’s a Team Sport; Putting It All Together; Multimedia; Positive Feedback; Quality Sound On a Tight Budget and special guests Chris & Melissa Davis will be teaching a workshop on musical productions. Go to the district site at www.northtexas.org to find out more about this year’s ACMC! REGISTER NOW!

Happy New Year!!!

What a blessing our first Worship Conference was. Special thanks to all of you that went out of your way to attend and respond. On the week of registration deadline, the number of registrants went from a discouraging 15 to 150! And total attendance was near 200. It was awesome to worship, learn and network with you. Special thanks to my team for doing an amazing job. We have a great foundation to build on for future worship conferences.

I don’t know about all of you, but things are gearing up for a busy fall/winter here at TCOC. We celebrate our 10-Year Anniversary next Sunday, October 4th. And, immeditely following, we will begin to work on Christmas! Yes, you heard me right, Christmas! I’m sure many of you have that word swirling around in the back of your heads, as well.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the low attendance at the Abilene Music Ministry Lunch and the hecticness of the weeks ahead, I am cancelling the Austin & Tyler sectional lunches. If you are in those areas and were anticipating those lunches and are in need of help, please contact me. I will be glad to help you in any way I can.

Serving Christ by Serving You,
