“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
       for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;
       great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
       therefore I will wait for him.”

The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
       to the one who seeks him;  Lamentations 3:22 – 25

 

 

As I was studying this passage of Scripture, I found this definition of wait, “to be available or in readiness” and thought how appropriate that is for those of us in ministry.  Ministry is a constant state of availability and readiness.  Doesn’t the Word say to “be prepared in season and out of season”?  (Timothy 4:2) Winter has come and soon will be gone.  Today, as I write this, it is 80+ degrees outside.  Before long, here in Texas, we will be pushing 100 degrees and just as some longed for winter to end, many will long for its return.  To EVERYTHING there is a season.  (Ecclesiastes 3)

 

Let me encourage you to be faithful to the ministry where God has placed you.  Be faithful where you are planted and, in due time, “you will reap a harvest.”  (Galatians 6:9) As you are consistently faithful in the small things—with a heart that is PURE before God—He will broaden your circle of ministry influence.  (Matthew 25:21)

 

Sometimes it takes years to manifest itself, but a ministry or minister that exalts itself/himself will be humbled.  But, for those who humble themselves, they will be exalted.  (Luke 18:14)

 

As worshippers, our ministry is described in verse 25 of the above mentioned passage (Lamentations 3):  “The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.”  It is our job to not only find hope in and seek Him, but also to bring others to a place of finding hope and seeking Him. 

 

Be encouraged today.  Your ministry is of great value.  The KING has need of you!
